In response to my article about Planned Parenthood and abortion (“Thank You, Mommy, for Killing Me”), a woman named Crystal posted a number of comments, strongly defending a woman’s “right to choose.”

She even wrote, “Have you ever thought what society would be like if there were no abortions? It would definitely be a lot worse than it is now. The foster care system is barely managing the case load that they have now. Can you imagine thousands of kids added to the foster care roles because they have not been adopted? Remember Romania when abortion was made illegal there, women just left their unwanted babies in the hospital and the babies were transferred to an orphanage and many ended up having psychological problems. Also in Malaysia, where abortion is forbidden, there is the problem of baby dumping, where young unmarried women who face ostracism from their Muslim parents will dump their unwanted child in the bushes, trash cans, and other places. Most of the babies are dead when they are found.”

I responded to her firmly, as did others, and she continued to press her point. Well, last week, she posted this publicly on my AskDrBrown Facebook page: “I want to apologize for writing crazy comments about killing babies about your article. I was trying to live without God and his principles in my life. I thought about the happiest time of my life. That was when I was going to church and living for God. Please pray for me. Thank you.”

Isn’t this remarkable? Let’s really pray for Crystal to reconnect to the Lord, and let’s remember that often, behind the hardness or hostility, there is hurt. May we always be ministers of grace even as we stand for truth.
