I’m honestly baffled. Can someone bring some clarity?

The Democrats keep referencing Anita Hill’s testimony and calling for an FBI investigation. They keep saying, “We need to do what we did back in the Clarence Thomas hearings. We need to call in the FBI.”

I’m honestly wondering why.

Of course, these Democratic calls for an FBI investigation beg the question raised by Senator Grassley, namely, if you wanted a full investigation, why didn’t you bring us Prof. Ford’s letter six weeks earlier? Why didn’t you call for an investigation when you received her letter on July 30th, in that case being able to protect her anonymity?

But let’s put that question aside. There are two salient details when it comes to the Anita Hill testimony.

First, according to the official government statement, after hearing back from the FBI, “The White House reviewed the report and determined that the allegation was unfounded.”

Why, then, keep pointing back to the “way we did it back then with Anita Hill” when the result of the FBI investigation was not in her favor? Why not say that, after investigation, her charges could not be substantiated? Why keep pointing back to the FBI’s investigation of Anita Hill as if the FBI substantiated her claims?

Second, during the Clarence Thomas hearings, Senator Biden (now famously) dismissed the importance of FBI reports, saying to Clarence Thomas that he wouldn’t be happy if Biden waved such a report before him “because it’s inconclusive. They say, he said, she said and they said, period.

“So when people wave an FBI report before you, understand they do not — they do not, they do not — reach conclusions. They do not make, as my friend points out more accurately, they do not make recommendations.”

So, to repeat, why are the Democrats constantly pointing back to Anita Hill and the FBI hearings? As far as I can tell, it works against them.

Can anyone clarify? Again, this is an honest question. Is it merely political grandstanding in order to delay the vote?

What are the Democrat's objectives? Not just delay the vote, but force Kavanaugh's nomination to be pulled. That way, even if they lose in November they can use the same tactics to defeat the next nominee, and the next, and the next. They don't want a shift in the balance of the court no matter what. But unless they win in November, their tools to defeat the nomination are limited. So, yes, they are deliberately pushing for any delay they can get as that gives them more time to hammer away at Kavanaugh hoping to drive the American public against him and changing the votes of the handful of Senators who hold his nomination in their hands. It's really that simple. It's raw politics. They aren't playing nice like the Republicans typically do. And they don't want to lose. Why don't we ever learn? We're in a war and we act like we don't even know it. Your "honest" question shows you haven't fully gotten it either. And that's sad. Seriously.
