Dr. Brown is correct. Contrary to the gospel for sure. Jesus Christ never mentions the subject of homosexuality at all in the gospels. So if the supposed creator of the universe never mentioned this when he was on earth it couldn't have been that important. However Dr. Brown claims God laid this issue of gay rights on his heart. So he seems to be implying that Jesus had an afterthought and decided this is an important issue after all and picked Dr. Michael Brown to sort of add a little bit to the gospel message that Jesus apparently forgot to mention.

It's more than difficult to use the "Argumentum ex Silentio" (Argument from Silence) to bolster your misguided statements that the Creator of the universe never mentioned homosexuality, therefore, it wasn't important to Him. I take it you know a little bit about the Bible, which most agnostics/atheists do, and you would know of God's original design for Adam's wife, Eve, and that He blessed the union of a woman and a man and cursed those who committed what is known as "sexual immorality." There's actually much said about it as a whole and chapters 18 and 20 of Leviticus defines in no uncertain terms what it encompasses. Concerning what Jesus had to say about it...He most definitely "affirmed" God's original mandates and even expounded on them in Matthew 5:27-32. Some will try to argue that He was speaking of adultery only and that a monogamous homosexual relationship is blessed by God... That doesn't work on many levels, but is a much longer conversation for another time. Notice what Jesus says concerning adultery and fornications in Matthew 15:19-20. He says plainly that those who commit such things are "defiled" by them. The term, "fornication," is correctly understood by what is outlined in those chapters in Leviticus 18 and 20 and there's no reason Jesus wouldn't have known that...there's some "very" interesting reading in the books of Exodus and Deuteronomy about the giving of the law on Mt. Sinai, you would be amazed... Concerning exactly what constitutes the sacred union of marriage as being between a man and woman, Jesus reaffirms what we find in Genesis 2:24 in Matt. 19:4-6, 9. This is what it says in no uncertain terms: Matt 19:3 The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?” 4 And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,' 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” 7 They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?” 8 He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.” 10 His disciples said to Him, “If such is the case of the man with his wife, it is better not to marry.” Judging from the verses and the words of Jesus that I've outlined, we can rightly conclude that "sexual immorality" encompasses "all" those immoral acts committed outside of the union of a man and his wife, which union we know as "marriage." God did "not" create Adam and then create a man and woman and tell Adam to "take his pick." Jesus in way, shape or form condoned sin of any kind and He never gave any indication that because mankind committed such things that He's going to remove them from the list of what is "sin." Is it still a sin to steal, or to murder? Is it still a sin to bear false witness? Then why is not a sin to enter into a homosexual relationship? With that said, yes, it's true that Jesus came to take away the sins of the world, not by declaring every sin "OK," but by bearing the just punishment that sinners deserve, the one caveat being that we "repent" of our sins and accept Him as our propitiation and Savior from our sins, and in repentance there is first an "acknowledgement" and a "conviction" of exactly what constitutes sin in the first place and there is then a "turning" away from our sin to live as a new creation in Messiah, Jesus. None of us are perfect this side of eternity, but to strive daily against the pitfalls of sin and to wholly trust in the Lord is to act on our faith and to live out our calling. Paul reiterates these things in 1 Cor 6: 9 "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals, 10 thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Some of you once lived this way. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 12 “All things are lawful for me”—but not everything is beneficial. “All things are lawful for me”—but I will not be controlled by anything. 13 “Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both.” The body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 Now God indeed raised the Lord and he will raise us by his power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you not know that anyone who is united with a prostitute is one body with her? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But the one united with the Lord is one spirit with him. 18 Flee sexual immorality! “Every sin a person commits is outside of the body”—but the immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body." I hope you take the time to read and study on these things and I pray you'll gain better insight into what is the true Christian Doctrine that's being whittled away these days. I've not an ounce of animosity towards anyone who identifies as homosexual or other, but I can't abide having the Bible rewritten to suit the lifestyle choices of those who would deny what it plainly says. Thanks!
