Last week I wrote an article on the lost childhood of so many childhood stars after I read about a new, profane video by Miley Cyrus (obviously, it’s a video I don’t plan to watch)

Today, I saw this quote from her father, the supposedly Christian Billy Ray Cyrus, about the video.

“I’m a song man. A musician singer songwriter who loves all styles of music. But again … I come from the old school where it starts with an artist and a song … colliding if you will … in a moment where the song, the singer, the producer, the band and the listener become one. It wouldn’t have mattered if Miley would have worn jeans and a flannel shirt … a Tux … or a nun’s habit. The song’s a smash … and her performance vocally on the tune reflects her roots and sheer God given talent,”

With fathers like this, it’s easy to see why the kids get so messed up.

A father who truly loved his daughter would not just affirm and praise. He would be grieved over what she is doing and how she is living and what she is flaunting before the world. That’s his little girl after all!

What kind of fathering is this? Sad — and sobering.
