Gay activists constantly tell us that there’s no such thing as a slippery moral slope and that the acceptance of homosexuality will not lead to the acceptance of other sexual practices, such as incest. The facts prove otherwise, and it is clear that we are rapidly sliding down the very slope whose existence they deny.

As I continually chart our society’s moral free fall, the term that best describes our current condition is sexual anarchy, where men can have sex with men just as well with women, where sex outside of wedlock is just as acceptable as sex within wedlock, where marriage doesn’t necessarily mean monogamy and where longstanding social taboos are cast off.

Already in 2007, Time magazine raised the question, “Should Incest Be Legal?” The article noted that critics of the Supreme Court’s Lawrence v. Texas ruling in 2003, which struck down Texas’ anti-sodomy law, argued that the ruling would lead to attempts to legalize same-sex “marriage” and polygamy. “It turns out,” Time observed, “that the critics were right,” adding that plaintiffs were now “using Lawrence to challenge laws against incest.”

Not surprisingly, in December, 2010, when Columbia University professor David Epstein was arrested for a three-year, consensual affair with his adult daughter, his attorney said, “It’s OK for homosexuals to do whatever they want in their own home. How is this so different? We have to figure out why some behavior is tolerated and some is not.”

In keeping with the spirit of the age, some Columbia students asked why any sexual acts committed by consenting adults should be considered a crime. After all, love is love, right?

Continuing with this perverse trend, a judge in Australia created quite an uproar earlier this month when he “likened incest to homosexuality, which [he argued] was once regarded as criminal and ‘unnatural’ but is now widely accepted.

“He said incest was now only a crime because it may lead to abnormalities in offspring, but this rationale was increasingly irrelevant because of the availability of contraception and abortion.

“‘A jury might find nothing untoward in the advance of a brother toward his sister once she had sexually matured, had sexual relationships with other men and was now ‘available,’ not having [a] sexual partner,’ the judge said.”

How times have changed!

As the judge explained, “If this was the 1950s and you had a jury of 12 men there, which is what you’d invariably have, they would say it’s unnatural for a man to be interested in another man or a man being interested in a boy. Those things have gone.”

You might say, “But that’s just some wacko judge in Australia, and people are outraged with his ruling.”

True enough, except that doesn’t tell the whole story.

With increasing frequency and openness, the media are now promoting and even celebrating incest.

For example, in May 2010, Salon.com ran an article on “Gay Porn’s Most Shocking Taboo,” namely “Twincest.” As expressed by one of the twins, “My brother is my boyfriend, and I am his boyfriend.” One commenter to the article asked, “Who are you to judge them when they are harming no one?”

Have you heard this argument before, but in a different context?

For a more “mainstream” example, director Nick Cassavetes, promoting his movie “Yellow,” which features an adult incestuous relationship, said, “We had heard a few stories where brothers and sisters were completely, absolutely in love with one another. You know what? This whole movie is about judgment, and lack of it, and doing what you want.”

He added: “I’m not saying this is an absolute, but in a way, if you’re not having kids – who gives a d-mn? Love who you want. Isn’t that what we say? Gay marriage – love who you want? If it’s your brother or sister, it’s super-weird, but if you look at it, you’re not hurting anybody except every single person who freaks out because you’re in love with one another.”

The popular HBO series “Game of Thrones” also features an adult, brother-sister sexual relationship, while media analyst Brent Bozell wrote on July 18, 2014, “For those who predict the coming collapse of Western civilization, there’s always MTV for proof. At this year’s Television Critics Association summer tour in Hollywood, MTV put on a panel discussion for the press with the cast and creators of a forthcoming series called ‘Happyland.’ The female star of the show, actress Bianca Santos, announced the new MTV motto: ‘Incest is hot, and we’re going to have fun!'”

And there is no slippery slope!

In the 1600s, Christian leader Thomas Manton wrote, “First we practice sin, then defend it, then boast of it.”

Today, 400 years later, we see that human nature has not changed.

All this is also a stark reminder for gay theologians who want to throw out the sexual standards of Leviticus 18, which include prohibitions against incest as well as against homosexual practice (among other sexual sins), claiming that those laws applied to ancient Israel only.

In their zeal to justify homosexual practice, these misguided teachers have opened the door wide to incest as well, removing the primary biblical texts that prohibit these sexual unions.

Society as a whole needs to take heed as well. If we don't reverse our slide down this slippery moral slope, we will soon crash and burn.

The good news that there's still time to turn around. The bad news is that the slope is steep, the slide is fast, and the clock is ticking – quickly.
